President of Jamhuriya University Participates in QS Africa Forum 2025 in Tanzania

The President of Jamhuriya University of Science and Technology (JUST), Eng. Mohamed A. Mohamud, took part in the prestigious QS Africa Forum 2025, held on 3–4 July 2025 in Zanzibar, Tanzania. The forum was organized by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, a globally renowned organization in higher education rankings and partnerships.

This year’s forum convened top-tier leaders in African higher education, alongside international experts and policy-makers, under the theme:

“Maximizing Africa’s Potential: Scientific Research, Knowledge Transfer, Innovation, and Skills for a Thriving Future.”

Eng. Mohamed was a key contributor to a high-level panel discussion titled:

“Sustainable Funding and Policy Frameworks for Africa’s Knowledge Economy.”

During the session, he highlighted the challenges Africa faces in securing long-term research funding, and emphasized the importance of strategic policies that foster innovation and academic development. He also shared insightful experiences from Somalia’s context, including the realities of research infrastructure, institutional growth, and potential pathways to build resilience in the knowledge sector.

As part of the forum’s outcomes, Jamhuriya University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) in Malaysia. This agreement aims to:

  • Enhance academic exchange and joint research initiatives

  • Promote staff and student mobility

  • Foster international collaboration in science, technology, and innovation

This partnership marks an important milestone in Jamhuriya’s commitment to global engagement and academic excellence.
